Whats the difference between streetwear and high fashion? Streetwear is exactly what the name says, clothes that you regularly wear to go out into the “street". Overtime streetwear has become more and more popular due to hip hop, skate, surf, and punk culture in the 1970’s and 1980's and has grown ever since. Brands like Supreme, Stussy, and Nike started a growing trend in places such as New York and Los Angeles. Stussy was created by a surfboard designer named Shawn Stussy who started placing his own trademark logo and selling them. Stussy became popular in the skate and surf world and is now a recognizable brand. Streetwear used to be jeans and a t-shirt and has now evolved into something we call high fashion.

As much as fashion has changed we now see a merge between high fashion and streetwear. Brands like Louis Vuitton create both suits and t-shirts and are still recognized as high fashion clothing. What does this look like? Well truly, when done correctly, the mix is quite beautiful. More and companies are getting into streetwear and high fashion. Which one reigns supreme? That's really up to the person dressing up. Here are some looks form this years New York Fashion Week.
