I assume that by now we’ve all heard about the pandemic COVID-19 and if you haven’t I guess that you might be living under a rock. This virus has forced schools and jobs to close down until further notice and has caused just about every border to close in hopes to slow down the spread of the virus. Within these last few weeks the Corona virus has spread quite quickly and many “stay at home” orders have been given within the U.S. With everything going on, what does this mean for the fashion world?

Unfortunately, due to these stay at home orders, clothing stores and sneaker stores have had to shut down. Companies like God is Dope have been promoting sales and social media campaigns to stay afloat. Although online sales aren’t the entire target for these companies, they do enough to produce enough cash flow for the company to continue with their operation.

If you’ve every purchased anything online or subscribed to any company, you’ve most likely received an email that looks more or less like the screenshot provided. This email is followed by some deal or promotion of sorts. ASOS taken the opportunity to give back to their customers with 20% off deals and 50% off through August to give a little relief shopping while being home on quarantine. Many companies are giving away free gifts with every purchase to be more personable. For example, a clothing company called Oeyes gives away free mask every time someone orders from their site. Other companies have been giving away a small hand sanitizer or other

essentials during this pandemic.

During this time of quarantine, people are bored and becoming quite restless. One thing that I’ve noticed that many companies aside from clothing brands are doing, is that they are interacting with the public as much as they can. The founder of God is Dope, Sharod Simpson, recently went on Instagram live to teach entrepreneurial lessons and also held a gospel singing contest on the brands page. Along with Instagram lives, there have been social media campaigns around washing your hands and staying home. Companies are doing their best to stay involved and continuously creating customer loyalty along the way.

Like companies, we should also continue to be personable. Text an old friend or make some new ones. Learn a new skill and do your best to stay active. Also, never forget to wash your hands.
